Moderation, Enforcement & Appeals Policy
Moderation Philosophy
The primary duty of the moderation team is de-escalation, community protection, and maintaining the intellectual and aesthetic standards of MONOLITH. Punitive measures are employed progressively, prioritizing member correction where feasible, and swift removal when safety or server stability is threatened.
Staff Code of Conduct and Accountability
2.1 Impartiality and Neutrality
Moderators must act without bias, personal vendettas, or favoritism. If a moderator is involved in an interpersonal conflict, they must recuse themselves and escalate the matter to an independent staff peer.
2.2 Confidentiality
Internal staff communications, private security telemetry, and user case files within #staff-chat and #mod-logs are strictly confidential. Unauthorized leaking of staff data constitutes grounds for immediate removal and blacklisting.
Evidence Preservation and Audit Logging
Every non-automated disciplinary action (timeout exceeding 1 hour, kick, or ban) must be supported by verifiable evidence. Staff log message IDs, unedited screenshots, audit entry IDs, and concise infraction justifications into #mod-logs prior to or immediately following enforcement.
Formal Appeals Procedure
Members subject to permanent bans or extended timeouts may request a secondary administrative review. Appeals must follow this strict submission process:
- Access our external Appeals Portal.
- Provide your accurate Discord Username and permanent Snowflake User ID.
- State the approximate date and nature of the action taken.
- Present a clear, factual, and respectful explanation detailing why the action was erroneous, or demonstrating meaningful rehabilitation and accountability.
Appeal Eligibility and Restrictions
| Infraction Category | Appeals Eligibility | Cooling-Off Window |
|---|---|---|
| Minor Rule Violations / Disruption | Eligible | 14 Days from date of ban |
| Compromised / Hacked Account | Eligible upon account recovery proof | Immediate upon 2FA verification |
| Doxxing / Privacy Invasions | Ineligible (Strict zero tolerance) | Permanent blacklist |
| Hate Speech / Severe Harassment | Ineligible | Permanent blacklist |
| Malicious Raiding / Cyberattacks | Ineligible | Permanent blacklist |
Review Timeline and Finality
Appeals are evaluated independently by the Senior Administrative Team (Owners and Senior Admins) rather than the originating moderator. Determinations are rendered within 7 business days. Decisions delivered on formal appeals are conclusive and final; subsequent repeat submissions will be closed without response.
